Below you will find an outline of the rules for the Student Evaluation Case Competition. If you still have questions, check out our FAQ page or contact us for further clarification.

Team Composition

  • All teams must be made up of at least 3 and no more than 5 members

  • All team members must be registered students (either full or part time) in a Canadian post-secondary institution (e.g., university or college). Students can be in any discipline, faculty, or level of study (e.g., certificate program, undergraduate, graduate)

  • Students from different departments, faculties or institutions are welcome to participate on the same team

  • Teams must select a team name that does not indicate their associated college, university, chapter, city, or province

  • All cases are provided in both languages, and teams are able to make their submission in either language

  • The judging panel consists of at least two bilingual judges

Coaching a Team

  • Coaches may be a professor or members of a CES Chapter who are practicing in evaluation

  • Coaches are not required, but are highly recommended

  • Coaches are asked to provide the necessary time and attention to ensure that teams have the support they need to excel

  • Teams may be coached prior to the competition, but coaches cannot communicate with their teams once the teams have received their case

  • Coaches can support multiple teams; however, we recommend coaching only up to two teams due to the time commitment required of coaches
